This Capital City Pediatric Asthma Center (CCPAC) is located on the corner of Laurel and 5th street in downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This building was recently acquired by The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA). This pediatric clinic is welcoming and interactive to all children ages 0-18 through the use of colors and materials that are bold and geometric. These bold colors will help in wayfinding within the clinic, so patients and families feel comfortable navigating the space.
The underlying color of the space will be a light French gray. Other colors used throughout the space will be blue, orange, yellow, and green. Blue symbolizes security, has a positive effect on confidence, and effects calmness/relaxation of the body. Using blue as the second main color of the space will help make patients feel comfortable, confident, and calm at an appointment within the clinic. The color orange is complimentary to blue creating harmony throughout the space. Orange symbolizes emotion and youth, along with having a positive effect on people with weak lungs. Orange is a great color to use within the lab or x-ray area contributing to positive effects on the patients. Additionally, yellow can help patients feel happy and energized, while green symbolizes safety, growth, and health. Using green throughout the clinic will also help relate to biophilia and bring a sense of nature into the space. Together these colors will create cohesion throughout the space and uplift the mood, so patients feel comfortable and confident when entering the clinic.
